Project Panther (GIS)

The project's goal is to provide generalized navigation system that facilitates variety of businesses that involve shipment of cargo to daily staff transport. This project provides centralized geographic information for all business perspectives using the same geographic engine and localized sub systems facilitating their individual needs. Thereby increasing coordination, communication and enhance sales which would give a savings on costs.

The interfaces will be GUI based and representing data as it is on occasions where linear, area, cubic, finance calculations are performed. Thus interfaces are easy to understand and access.

This software will reduce the guess work involved and will provide efficient and easy access to much needed information. Hence this system will provide user-friendly efficient management of all sub systems and provide required services to relevant customer.

Geographic Information System (GIS)

This project provides centralized geographic information for all organizations using the same geographic engine and localized sub systems facilitating their individual needs. GIS is the system responsible for this.

A geographic information system (GIS) is a computer system that stores, edits, analyzes and displays data from a geographic perspective. In non-technical language, it is a kind of "smart map."

Most commercial data has a geographic component. The purpose of GIS is to track and display the patterns and trends inherent in data. The primary uses of GIS technology are to monitor change, do spatial analyses, and perform spatial modeling.

It can track changes over short or extended periods of time. GIS also allows you to model scenarios to test a particular hypothesis and to convert digital information into map form.

Vehicle Routing System

Vehicle routing system is accomplished mainly with GPS. GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is primarily a navigation system. Vehicle navigation system determines the position of the vehicle plans the route and gives the directions to the vehicle. In situations where the time is critical, the decision-making system would provide alternative route from the spot and guide the vehicle by giving instructions.

Taxi-Tracking system

In this system, the vehicle is continuously tracked from the positions of the GPS receiver. Therefore, it helps the Receptionist (response centre official) to find the nearest taxi to a service call. The Receptionist in the On-Line response center will be in a position to direct and guide the taxi to specified location through the shortest route. If any vehicle maintenance/repair work is needed /took place, the driver informs the receptionist about the work done and he will enter all details under the corresponding driver and the vehicle.

Land Cargo management & Distribution System

This handles cargo reservation and consignment details. The receptionist record registered user information and arrange cargo shipments, monitor and make sure the freight have been delivered on time to the reputed customers. When loading freight to distribution vehicles or to cargo vehicles, goods can be loaded to the vehicles by considering max load weight and fill factor of vehicle by the suitable personnel.

The fuel consumption and any maintenance or repair work that has to be carried out can be recorded by receptionist after relaying information to him by a two way radio.
